What's so special about Smalo Smart Mode and Smart Drive?

Smart Mode intuitively and intelligently adjusts the pedal assist as you ride. It calculates the level of support you need by evaluating both the riding conditions and pedaling effort. Simply focus on pedaling and enjoying the scenery; Smart Mode will do its magic to keep your riding experience comfortable!

Smart Drive takes Smart Mode to the next level—not only does it automatically adjust pedal assist, but it also shifts gears electronically, offering the same convenience as an automatic transmission in a car.

What’s your range?

The pedal-assist range is 70-120 km for the LX2 and 45-80 km for the PX2. This is based on a single full charge if it's a sunny day and you ride on flat, paved roads with an average speed of 25 km/h. An e-bike’s riding range is determined by a combination of factors, including speed, terrain, bicycle weight, level of pedal assist, rider body weight, cargo weight, wind, and cadence.

What’s the maximum assist speed?

Currently, Smalo e-bikes can boost up to 25 km/h when pedal assist is on.

How do I recharge my e-bike's battery? How long does it take to fully recharge?

Plug your bike or connect your battery (if it's removable) to a power outlet.
LX2 - 80% charge in approx. 2h30min; Full charge in approx. 3h40min
PX2 - 80% charge in approx. 2h5min; Full charge in approx. 3h20min

Can I remove the battery?

It depends on the model. The LX2 has a built-in battery, removed only for maintenance;the PX2 uses a portable battery that can be detached for charging.

How do I make my e-bike battery last longer?

• Use the right tires.
• Pedal smoothly.
• Don’t regularly fully discharge your battery.
• Use the charger provided.
• Stay away from extreme temperatures. Batteries love room temperature.
• Store your battery in a cool, dry place at 0ºC to 20ºC, and if you’re storing it for an extended period, then leave it 30% to 60% charged.
• Don’t jet wash the battery.

How to store my bike and keep it in top condition during colder months?

Storage and maintenance are a breeze. We promise. Simply wipe your bike down and store it at room temperature indoors. To safeguard the electric components, keep everything dry and maintain the battery level at 60 to 80 percent. It goes without saying, but keep away from physical and chemical hazards.

Can I still ride my e-bike when it's out of battery?

You certainly can! It still functions like a mechanical bike even if it is out of battery.

Can I ride a Smalo e-bike in the rain or on a cold winter day?

Smalo e-bikes are water-resistant, so riding in light rain and snow is no problem at all. Just make sure the motor isn't submerged in water. A lower temperature may affect battery performance and range, so keep that in mind.

Do I need the app to ride my Smalo e-bike?

It's not necessary, but it does offer the very best riding experience. Our app gives you insight into your ride and some convenient functions.

How to look after my e-bike?

As a general rule of thumb, look after mechanical bike components just like a traditional bike. For example, check your brake pads every 1000 km or as soon as you feel a loss of braking strength or hear a creaky noise. Your local bike shop can perform these types of repairs. The electric components on your e-bike don't usually require maintenance, as long as you follow the instructions in the user manual. When in doubt, contact us for details.

Do I need special tools or a specialist to assemble the bike when it arrives?

The Smalo bikes arrives 90 percent assembled and comes with all tools required. Just follow this two-minute video, and you’ll be up and riding in no time.

The Purchase

What's your warranty policy?

The following warranty is only valid for the original buyer:
• Frame: 5 years
• Front fork without shock absorber: 5 years
• Electric components, such as instruments, controllers, motors, and batteries: 2 years
• Non-consumables: 2 years

Notice: If you modify the Smalo e-bike yourself (including the electronic system and transmission system), the product warranty will be voided. It is recommended to consult with an authorized dealer or service center in advance.

What payment methods does Smalo accept?

Your payment will be processed through trusted global payment service providers, Airwallex and PayPal. Airwallex supports payments via credit card, debit card, or Klarna, while PayPal allows payments using either a credit card or a PayPal account.

After selecting your preferred payment method, you will be redirected to the Airwallex or PayPal website to complete your purchase, and then returned to Smalo. This is a standard procedure—no need to worry.

After placing my order, how long does it take for my bike to be delivered?

We work with DACHSER and FedEx to deliver your ride within the Germany in 5 business days. You’ll receive a tracking code via email once your order has been shipped.

Do you provide financing?

When selecting Klarna at checkout, you will be redirected to the Airwallex payment service page. After choosing Klarna and logging into your Klarna account, you will generally see installment payment options (though this may not be available due to individual credit factors). Once the payment is completed, you will be redirected back to the Smalo website.

What do I do if my Smalo e-bike gets damaged during shipping?

Do not open the box and contact us right away. If you start to open the box and notice damage on the bike, stop and call us. Take a few photos from different angles, too. We'll send you a new bike right away.

Can I place an order and pick it up at your store?

Yes. Picking up at the store requires an additional payment for bike assembly of €80. Check out the store at Find Our Showroom

What's your return policy?

Basically, we offer free return requests within 14 days. Here's what you need to do:
1. Pack the bike with all accessories in the original packaging.
2. Contact us to schedule a pickup by our courier.

Before requesting a return, please note:
1. Return shipping costs are to be covered by the customer
2. You must upload photos of the product to us for condition assessment - we'll determine refund eligibility (full refund, partial deduction, or non-refundable)
3. Upon receiving returned items, we'll notify you via email. Refund processing times vary depending on your original payment method.

Where do I go for servicing my Smalo e-bike?

Any bicycle shop can help you with a mechanical-related task or maintenance inquiries, such as brake, shifting, or derailleur adjustments. Smalo e-bikes are robust and doesn't need much more maintenance than a regular bike. If you experience electrical problems, please contact an authorized Smalo dealer or local service center for troubleshooting.

What can my local Smalo dealer do to help?

How do i get in touch?

For general usage issues, you can prioritize visiting our showroom during business hours to receive direct and efficient local service.

Of course, any questions can also be sent via email to our customer service inbox, and we will endeavor to respond in around two business days after receiving your inquiry.

*All return requests must be submitted via email to the customer service inbox, and the return of goods is only permitted after initial review and approval. Unauthorized returns sent without prior contact will be rejected.*

Which app works with my Smalo e-bike?

Download the BESV Smart Plus App to pair your Smalo bikes. Smalo app is compatible with smartphones running iOS 16.0, Android 7.0 or later.

What kind of data does the Smart App track during my rides?

More data empowers a better ride. To equip you with detailed riding information, the Smart Plus App tracks:
• Travel distance
• Total riding time
• Cadence
• Power speed
• Elevation
• Heartbeat (if connected to wearable tech)
• Estimated calories burned
• Your journey on the map (including time and route)
Like you, we value personal privacy and security. All data is stored locally on your phone, so only you have access to it.

If I share my bike with someone, can we both download the app on our phones and separately track our data?

Yes. Smart App data is stored locally on your respective phones when connected to the bike via Bluetooth. Say you share your bike with your sister. You can both download the Smart App of your own phones and monitor your own rides.

I have connection issues with the App. What should I do?

Here are our troubleshooting tips:
1. Ensure that your phone's network, Bluetooth, and GPS connections are enabled and functioning properly.
2. Make sure your e-bike battery is on.
3. Restart the app and connect again.
4. If it still doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall the app.
5. Contact us if nothing works.
